Black Heritage Council

The Alabama Historical Commission created the Black Heritage Council (BHC) to advocate for and advise the Commission on the preservation of African-American historic places in Alabama.

Maritime Advisory Council

The Alabama Historical Commission created the Maritime Advisory Council (MAC) to advise the AHC on topics relating to maritime archaeology and history.

Council on Alabama Archaeology

The Alabama Historical Commission created the Council of Alabama Archaeology (CAA) to advise the AHC on topics relating to archaeology and history.

The Cahaba Foundation

The Alabama Historical Commission owns Old Cahawba Archaeological Park and the Cahaba Foundation works to secure private financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations for the site.

Cahawba Advisory Committee

This committee was created to advise the Alabama Historical Commission on topics related to Old Cahawba Archaeological Park.

Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation

The Alabama Historical Commission owns Belle Mont Mansion and CCHLF is the support group in charge of operating the site.

Friends of Fendall Hall

The Alabama Historical Commission owns Fendall Hall and the Friends of Fendall Hall is the support group in charge of operating the site.

Fort Mims Restoration Association

The Alabama Historical Commission owns Fort Mims and the Fort Mims Restoration Association is the support group in charge of operating the site.

Friends of the Forts

The Alabama Historical Commission owns Fort Toulouse-Fort Jackson Park and the Friends of the Forts assists in the preservation of the site.

Friends of the Freedom Rides Museum

The Alabama Historical Commission operates the Freedom Rides Museum and the Friends of the Freedom Rides Museum assists in the preservation of the site.

Friends of the General Joe Wheeler Foundation

The Alabama Historical Commission owns Pond Spring, the General Joe Wheeler Home and the Friends of the General Joe Wheeler Foundation assists in the preservation of the site.

The mission of ALABAMA 200 is to support, create, and execute events and activities that commemorate the stories of our people, place, and path to statehood.

Alabama Historical Association

This organization, the oldest statewide historical society in Alabama, provides opportunities for meaningful engagement with the past through publications, meetings, historical markers, and other programs.

Alabama Lighthouse Association

The mission of this organization is the historic preservation of lighthouses.

Alabama Trust for Historic Preservation

This organization provides a statewide voice for preservation efforts. It assists local groups around the state in seeking viable alternatives to demolition and making presentations to public officials concerning the value of preservation.

Main Street Alabama

Economic development is at the heart of this statewide organization’s efforts to revitalize downtowns and neighborhoods.

Your Town Alabama

The “Your Town” workshop focuses on an important aspect of community spirit and community integrity: the process of design. The workshop aims specifically to introduce small town and rural technical assistance providers and decision makers to the role of design in community planning.
