NEWS

The Alabama Historical Commission's Executive Committe held an emergency meeting that took place virtually on Tuesday, June 9 at 10:30am via WebEx. Please click here to view a synopsis of that meeting

As the country and world respond to coronavirus and the COVID-19 situation, the Alabama Historical Commission and management staff remain vigilant in accessing the best course of action for AHC staff and visitors to our main office and historic sites.

As of Friday, April 3 the Alabama Historical Commission will act on the recommendations of public health officials and Governor Ivey to implement a plan for social distancing. In the interest of public health and safety, all events and programs at AHC's historic sites are cancelled until August 30. The agency will reevaluate these closures by that time.

The Alabama Historical Commission Main Office in Montgomery will be operating with limited staff. The public is encouraged to correspond with program coordinators via email with regards to ongoing projects. Section 106 applications have moved entirely to a digital submission process. A directory of staff members and corresponding programs is available at https://ahc.alabama.gov/staffdirectory.aspx.

We are aware that this situation is changing rapidly and are accessing our practices closely. AHC’s website, social media, and email channels will be utilized to disseminate information and any changes pertaining to our sites and programs. Thank you, and be well.
