Education Trust Fund Grant (ETF) begins February 3, 2025!

The Alabama Historical Commission, the State Historic Preservation Office, has opened its 2025 Grant Program with funds appropriated by the Alabama Legislature. Historic sites meeting the eligibility can submit applications February 3rd through March 31, 2025.

AHC will administer a $3,736,239 Historic Sites Grant Program with funds appropriated by the Alabama Legislature for improvements to and educational programming at historic sites or historical monuments in Alabama.

Grants will be awarded to public or non-profit entities who own monuments that commemorate historical events and places, or operate sites in Alabama that reflect a historical education-based mission and concentrate on historical educational programming. Preference will be given to properties listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places that were built before 1840 and are publicly owned and accessible to the public; properties built in or before 1943 that are listed in or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places; and any property built after 1943 that significantly contributed to the civil rights movement. Grant amounts will not exceed $75,000 for any one entity and must be used within two years of receiving the grant.
