Four Artifacts from Clotilda Undergoing Conservation
Aug 10, 2023  -  Montgomery – The Alabama Historical Commission (AHC), RESOLVE Marine, Terra Mare Conservation, and the History Museum of Mobile report ongoing conservation treatment of four artifacts recovered from the Clotilda shipwreck during archaeological investigations in May 2022.
The Alabama Historical Commission Announces New Grant Program to Benefit Historic Places
Jun 8, 2023  -  Montgomery – The Alabama Historical Commission (AHC) has received $6 million in funding from Governor Kay Ivey and the state legislature for the Preservation of Alabama’s Significant Sites (PASS) grant program. The program will assist in the preservation and repair of historic sites in Alabama.
Old Cahawba Archaeological Park to Host “Road to Freedom” Wagon Tour for Black History Month
Jan 9, 2023  -  Orrville – Old Cahawba Archaeological Park, the state’s first capital and famous ghost town, is hosting the annual Road to Freedom wagon tour in celebration of Black History month on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
Pond Spring Kicks Off Monthly Speaker Series
Jan 4, 2023  -  Hillsboro - Pond Spring, The General Joe Wheeler Home, presents a new speaker series for 2023 starting with Site Director of Pope’s Tavern and the Indian Mound Museum Brian Murphy on January 16 at 6:30 pm. This free monthly event will bring in speakers on various subjects of special interest to the community.
