Public Archaeology Day

Magnolia Grove, Greensboro, Alabama
In collaboration with the Alabama Historical Commission, the Magnolia Grove Foundation and Gulf Coast Survey will hold a Public Archaeology Day at Magnolia Grove on Saturday, August 4 from 10:00am-4:00pm.
Visitors of all ages are invited to try various noninvasive archaeological methods, wash and sort artifacts, and enjoy art activities such as necklace making with beads and cowrie shells.
Free refreshments will be available.
Admission is FREE.

About Magnolia Grove
Magnolia Grove is a classic Greek revival house built circa 1840. Its architectural style is what many tourists expect to see in the Deep South. However, the house offers much more and presents our region's complex history. Magnolia Grove was the boyhood home of Spanish-American War hero and U.S. Congressman Richmond Pearson Hobson. The Alabama Historical Commission owns this historic site. The Magnolia Grove Foundation is the support group in charge of operating the site. Magnolia Grove is open Thursday-Saturday, 10:00- 4:00 and is located at the intersection of Main Street and Hobson Street (AL-14) in Greensboro, Alabama.

About the Alabama Historical Commission
Located in historic downtown Montgomery at 468 S. Perry Street, the Alabama Historical Commission is the state historic preservation agency for Alabama. The agency was created by an act of the state legislature in 1966 with a mission to protect, preserve and interpret Alabama’s historic places.
