Hillsboro - Pond Spring, The General Joe Wheeler Home, presents a new speaker series for 2023 starting with Site Director of Pope’s Tavern and the Indian Mound Museum Brian Murphy on January 16 at 6:30 pm. This free monthly event will bring in speakers on various subjects of special interest to the community.

Mr. Murphy’s presentation will explore a brief history of Pope’s Tavern, a structure that dates to the 1830s in Florence, Alabama. In addition, he will discuss the archeological testing at the site, as well as the formation and work of the new Pope’s Tavern Archeological Club.

The series will take place on the third Monday of every month through October and will be hosted inside the Wheeler Home. Seating is limited, and reservations are strongly suggested.
